Diros Caves

On the west coast of Laconia in the stark southern region named Mani, one can visit deep underground caves that offer a unique experience travelling over the calm inner waters via a flotilla of boats. The caves run deep almost 3,5 km. and were discovered by chance in the early 1900’s by shepherds. They were later extensively explored in 1949 by the official Speleology Society of Greece. The ‘sea lake’ caves of Diros are considered one of the most remarkable and beautiful cave formations of Europe. The stunning underground views at the caves will certainly leave you in wonder at nature’s handiwork.
